Knitting enthusiasts have worked around the clock for a 24 hour sewing extravaganza to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. Helen Summers of wool store K-1 P1 haven for knitters in Lady Street, hosted a special charity gift from at her Lady Street shop.
Among their crafted creations., the ladies knitted 12 m scarf and a patchwork blanket. Helen said,
It went very well. We had a great time doing it and we were in stitches throughout ' the ladies worked around the clock for the cause and kept themselves awake through number of ways, including watching the entire eight film, Harry Potter series.
They also braved the cold and took turns to sit outside with their knitting, encouraging people to come in and donate to their cause.
'We sat there with our hot water bottles, encouraging people to donate. It was a freezing cold day. When the 24 hour countdown had finished, we were very relieved and glad we had accomplished what we set out to do. We are still adding up the totals of what we have raised but we are hoping it will be in the thousands. I would like to thank everybody for their support.'
