Description
Welcome to Artist's Palette Yarns.
My name is Juliet, and I am the dyer behind Artist's Palette Yarns. I'm helped out by Rick, my husband, who is dogsbody-in-general, and who also does a wonderful job with the photographs and the computer.
Knitting has become something of an obsession with me, and I wanted to knit with the beautiful hand dyed yarns that were available but sometimes I couldn't find the colours I was after. So, when the opportunity came up to go on a dyeing workshop, I signed up straight away. One 6 hour session later and I was hooked! I had found a link between my fine art background and my textile obsession.
I am now delighted to offer hand dyed luxury yarns and fibres to you, and hope you enjoy working with them as much as I enjoy making them.
A note about colours...
I usually dye in small batches of around 3-6 skeins. You may find small variations within a batch, but the overall colour feel will be the same, as the dye is all from the same pot, and it is this that makes hand dyed yarns and fibre stand apart from factory dyed yarns and fibre.
Some yarns may stripe and pool, especially when knitted in the round. It will depend on your gauge, needle size and pattern, as much as on the dye job. Some colourways will not pool, no matter how you knit them. These are either the marls, which will have the word 'marl' after the colour number, or they will state in the colour description that they are non-pooling. I hope this helps you when making your choice and also in your expectations of the yarn you are buying.
The fibres are dyed in all manner of ways. If they have been dyed in order to achieve a specific effect, it will say so in the colour description. You can , of course, spin anything in any way you choose, so you are perfectly entitled to completely ignore the spinning suggestions!
A note about photographs...
We work hard to get the product photographs as close to life as possible, and they look so on our system. However, please bear in mind that monitors can and do vary from each other, and what shows as correct on our monitor may be different on yours. The colour descriptions will help when making your choices, but please note that we do have a returns policy, and if you are not happy with what you receive you may return it to us. You have 21 days to do this, and the product must be in its original state.
We also offer a range of KnitPro needles and accessories. I wanted to offer these because they are beautiful to use and are my most favourite needles! With their smooth but not slippy finish and their sharp points they make the knitting experience even more enjoyable.
Finally, we aim to deliver a quality product and service. We operate with integrity and honesty, and good customer service is a high priority. Please contact us if you have any queries at all, and we will do our best to help.
Enjoy your fibre arts!
Juliet and Rick.
