Description
The Name - Atomic Knitting
What's in a name? Sometimes people understand it straight away, whilst others ask for an explanation. So here goes.
The atom is a basic unit of matter, much like a knitting stitch. Put enough of either of these units together and you form a structure of some sort. The stitch markers simply guide you through this process and help make your design come to life. Hence Atomic Knitting.
About Me
I'm Emma and I was taught to knit by Nana at a very young age. I can remember spending hours creating colourful knitted garments as a child. I also have a huge passion for beads and jewellery making and am a self taught beader. After collecting a vast amounts of beads, making a fair bit of jewellery and combining this with knitting amongst other things, it made sense to wander down the path I find myself on today. The stitch markers and jewellery have evolved and changed with the fashions over the years and I also have an outlet for the beads and creativeness. I still try to find time to pick up the pins too.
The Designs
Each set of markers is designed and hand crafted by either myself or one of my designers. Atomic Knitting don't import any ready made markers as they are all made locally in Wales to a high quality standard. Using a wide variety of beads, including Lampwork beads, Millefiori, Cloisonné, cats eye, wooden beads, semi precious stones plus many more and of course the finest Swarovski (TM) crystals our stitch markers come to life. Typically we only make a few sets of each type which make up our limited edition collections. Our markers make fabulous gifts for your knitter friends (and a great treat for you), so do tell them about Atomic Knitting!
The Business
Atomic Knitting is a registered business located in Wales and has been trading since Feb 2007 selling handcrafted stitch markers & accessories. We offer a range of products to suit all budgets and a high level of customer service. Over the past few months new products such as the Artesano Yarn, Brittant Birch needles & hooks, bamboo knitting needles, knitting gifts and other knitting accessories have been sought out and added to the website.
The Future
One day soon I would love to open my own yarn store, however for the time being I'm content with exhibiting at shows around the UK and for established yarn stores both online and bricks & mortar to continue to stock Atomic Knitting products.
