Description:
A celebration of all things alpaca, the British Alpaca Futurity will be the first major show of 2012 featuring alpaca halter classes, an international fleece show, special ‘Introduction to Alpacas’ presentations for visitors, trade stands presenting alpaca products, workshops and seminars on textiles, alpaca health and genetics.

There will be a rolling ‘Discover Alpacas’ presentation where members of the public can find out more about alpacas.  Everyone is invited to join us at the Futurity where they can see some of the best British born alpacas, meet the breeders and find out what can be done with the fibre.

Alpaca Fibre Arts Village
A new feature for the Futurity is a Fibre Arts Village where fibre artists, whether alpaca breeders or not, can take a low cost table for the two days to display and sell their product.  The ‘village’ will encourage had spinners, weavers, knitters and crochet makers to come and practise their art in public.  There will be a knitting table stocked with yarns, needles and patterns where anyone can come and have a go.  Tops, fleeces, yarns and end products will all be for sale.  This is an opportunity to help create a bigger market for alpaca.

There will be a hand spinning workshop with Jean Field at mid day on the Friday and on the Saturday three workshops by the courture felt maker Liz Clay and an ‘Introduction to Lace Knitting’ workshop with Jean Field.  There are competitions for hand spinning, knitting, weaving, felting and dyeing, photography and art.

All entry and booking forms are available at www.britishalpacafuturity.com .  For more information contact Rachel Hebditch at 01884 243579 or Rachel@alpaca-uk.co.uk
