Description:
Sunday 7th to Sunday 14th August 2011.
Shetland’s acclaimed fiddle school and cultural festival.
Fiddle Frenzy is a celebration of the music and the musicians that have made Shetland one of the world’s most highly acclaimed fiddle playing regions. A must for all fans of traditional music. Moving into its seventh highly successful year, Shetland’s Fiddle Frenzy is a two part event – a fiddle school and a cultural festival.
A marathon seven-day and night event, Fiddle Frenzy offers students the opportunity to learn and immerse themselves in fiddle music Shetland style with some of our best tutors and musicians. We offer courses suited to beginners, through to the more experienced players.
You can opt to simply learn the tunes or take part in more advanced workshops that include bowing techniques and additional skills; alternatively join in the cultural trips each afternoon. Showcase concerts and dances each night will introduce you to the best of Shetland’s traditional musicians, and give you a chance to socialise and join in sessions at the festival club.
Each year students come from around the world to experience this event.
