A former butcher has swapped his meat cleaver and picked up his knitting needles to raise money for charity.
Ray Woodhouse, 54, creates miniature bobble hats to raise money for Age UK in Brentford, which is a charity for older people. He said,
'I don't look like your typical knitter. My wife gave up smoking six years ago and started knitting to help, then I gave up smoking to, so I just did it in front of the TV with her.'
Ray is used to helping charity and has raised about £150,000 for the British Heart Foundation as part of the cycling team who cycled Brighton to London .
'My older sister taught me how to knit when I was little and I picked its backup.'
Ray was forced to stop cycling and quit his job eight years ago when he was diagnosed with leukaemia. He said,
'I was meant to stop everything completely but I decided to help out at age UK, so far I have raised £50 with the hats.' Good on you Ray!
