Knitting as a hobby is a very exciting craft which can be easily mastered. Whether you're a novice knitter or a pro, there is an astonishing variety of garments and gifts that can be produced with very different results. In it's very simplest form, knitting as a hobby can be used as a craft to make scarves as short or as long as you need, colourful patchwork squares sewn together to make a blanket maybe. Dainty baby garments and easy to make sleeveless tops and tunics.

When you are familiar with knitting and purling, you can go on to the more advanced techniques and patterns. The range of patterns and items of clothing you can make yourself are endless. Things such as coats, dresses, suits, trousers can be made if you wish. How about making a hat, gloves and scarves set as a present for a loved one if you like a challenge?

There is virtually no level that cannot be reached to accomplish the range of practical household items and range of garments that can be knitted. All you need is a pair of knitting needles and a ball of wool and the sky is the limit. More often than not a design can look very complicated, looking too intricate for you to attempt. There are so many exquisitely fine lacy patterns and complicated stitches that you think you may never be able to do, when in reality, there are only two basic stitches needed in knitting -it's true!

Knit and purl are the basic stitches you need to know before going on to more complicated uses of the two. We will show you how to do that just to, and talk about the tools of the trade you need and how to start a piece of work (casting on) and how to finish (casting off). Once you get the knitting bug, knitting as a hobby will change your life for sure. It's relaxing, therapeutic, but most of all, a lot of fun. Knitting as a hobby can be done alone or in a group, either way you are definitely going to wonder what you did before knitting came into your life!
