Knitting
Welcome to our knot of knitting - a section dedicated to all things wool and yarn. Knitting encompasses lots of crafts and if you learn how to knit then, why not crochet too? Mastering the needles is an art in itself and you may start off slow but once you get the hang of it you'll be whizz, we're sure. You'll be addicted from the beginning if you're that way inclined and it's satisfying to know, not only are you starting off on a journey that will get you a garment to wear at the end of it, but you will have so much fun along the way.
Knitting is therapeutic and it relaxes the mind after a long and stressful day. Knitting has been around an age and if you read our history of knitting, you'll learn some facts about it too. There are knit and knatter groups so you can find like minds to meet up with and share a drink or two. It's no longer an 'old lady' hobby, so many young people are learning the craft - so it's becoming fashionable in this day and age at last.
We can show you how to knit with our knitting tutorials and we can start from the very beginning with our how to guides. How to knit a stitch or how to cast off is a good place to start and when you then get good at this, we can show you how to cast on thumb method, how to cast on cable method - it seems a foreign language when you begin but you'll learn fast - we're sure you will.
So why do you knit? Lots of people have their own reasons - for therapy, for relaxation - for business too. It can earn you money but most of all if you enjoy it from the start then it's a hobby that can make you a living if you want to take it up seriously. The world of fashion is always on the look out for knitters who are quick, accurate and can produce garments on demand. But if it's knitting just for you then so be it - knitting should be fun - because it is!
