It's getting to be a familiar scene as more and more knitting clubs are moving into unlikely meeting rooms. An a back room at The Nine Irish Brothers in West la Fayette, USA, a group of women chat, drink and knit to their hearts content.
Meeting in a bar might sound like an unfamiliar scenario but for a group of local women, it's the perfect way to spend Monday nights,
'I couldn't find a knitting group in town that I wanted to go to,' said the groups organiser Theresa Crowell, 'I wanted some place where it was loud, where we could laugh and joke and not feel like we had to be quiet because we were in the library or bookstore.'
Little more than a year later the group has grown from three members to 37, who have joined the group via Facebook.
So what drinks go well with knitting we ask ourselves?
'Some really preferred Guinness or Harp. Nobody gets sloshed or anything. We are very responsible!'
