Description
Situated
in sunny Swanage. We are to be found at the most southern point of the
Isle of Purbeck in Dorset. Part of the Jurassic Coast, we have a
heritage centre for tourists or anyone interested in the beautiful
surroundings of our seaside town.
Swanage Railway is an award winning standard gauge preserved steam
railway. Trains operate every weekend and Bank Holiday from
mid-February to the end of the year, and every day of the week from
April to October. The six mile ride from the centre of Swanage to
Norden takes in some of the stunning country views of the area.
Although not overrun by many high street chain stores, Swanage has
an abundance of independent retailers like us that make retail therapy
a very welcome experience to all kinds of shoppers!
We pride ourselves on providing an old fashioned service with a modern outlook.
You can find us at 17-19 Station Road which has been a continual
home to a wool shop since 1907. With such a big anniversary coming up,
we are looking forward to marking our centenary with our customers.

Our shop is very much a family concern, owned and nurtured by Ann since 1995 who was joined in 2001 by her daughter Marianne.
Although Ann & Marianne manage the day to day running, they are
hugely indebted to their long suffering husbands, David and Dan for
providing an amazingly versatile and ingenious D.I.Y service whenever
required! They can even serve customers, although don't ask too many
complicated questions as they will struggle!
Amongst her many talents, Ann is an accomplished designer
dressmaker, knitter and knitwear designer. Patchwork, cross stitch,
embroidery, card making, jewellery making and crochet are all other
techniques Ann has practiced.
Marianne has brought the shop into the twenty first century with her
ability to press buttons! She has set up and now runs the mail order
service and has designed and built this website. Taking after her
artistic mother, Marianne is also a very 'crafty' person being a
compulsive knitter, dedicated card maker, cross stitch designer and can
create the most intricate beadwork that personally makes my eyes go
quite watery!
With this wealth of knowledge and talent Ann and Marianne are able
to help and advise with the majority of knitting or craft related
queries. We are also lucky to have very helpful, friendly staff. |
